memory bloc 1343178000: Clear Skies
Value: Loss of Connection to the Natural World
Growing up in the countryside we had an amazing view of the stars, I would spend hours in our back yard hunting planets and constellations, watching eclipses. On one clear night we were even graced by the presence of a majestic Aurora. It was the year that I moved into the city for my studies. The loss of the horizon hit me the hardest. I had so much trouble running around chasing good views of the sunset with all of the tall buildings in the way, that on this particular occasion our building manager saw my plight and was so moved that they offered me roof access. But by that time the light had already faded. Even the night sky directly above was obscured by the light pollution. It was then that I began to get into open world games as a way to get that feeling of wonder back.
