I remember now… I was too busy to play NMS in 2016. I had been rebuilding an old travel trailer. One that would be used to shuttle our little family of four across the country. I couldn’t tell you exactly what my reasoning was for wanting to go. Perhaps I had always been a Trave||er at heart? But, at the time, I believed it to be a calling. A mission. We were leaving on a permanent pilgrimage, from the Olympic Peninsula to the Heart of Bible Belt. We launched on October 2nd, 2016, leaving everything behind: The comforts of home, friends, family, jo-jos. Across our month-long journey, I would see many things: trees like skyscrapers, barren deserts, the Grand Canyon, jungles, beaches. Geology and biology that varied significantly from region to region—and all on just one continent! I learned a lot on this journey. Where I had once thought I’d learn to rely on a god, I learned instead that I was strong enough to pick up the slack on my own. This journey had reshaped and redefined me. Where once I would have found myself amongst brethren, I arrived a changed man. An interloper. An alien in a strange land.
